The storage dam pontoon pump package includes two pump sets, including a Pioneer PP86C17L71-HG self-priming pump, which is equipped with a TECO 90kW 4-pole motor through a Rathi LM 220-140 disc flexible coupling, with a working load of 450m3 /h @ 45m.
Each pump set is mounted on a galvanized machined base with painted coupling guards and non-destructive testing 1T lifting lugs. Each chassis is mounted on its specific pontoon, including handrails and pipes.
Between these pump pontoons is a third pontoon, which contains a common pipe manifold, allowing each pontoon to be connected by a mooring hinge plate. There is a passage between the handrails for easy access to each pontoon, which is covered by a safety chain when people do not need to pass through.
The storage dam pontoon also allows the walkway connected by hinged brackets to be connected to the land. Mooring hinge plates allow each pump pontoon to be disconnected when needed and moved to shore for maintenance.
The sidewalk has five extensions, each of which is about 6 meters long, with a total walkway distance of 30 meters. Each walkway is connected by an elastic coupling on the floor and a galvanized chain link between the handrail. Abutment hinges are also provided to connect the quay crane on site. The middle walkway and the central pontoon are provided with lugs for connecting the tether.
The provided piping system is reflected on each pump unit and includes a DN300 foot valve to suck water from the dam. This is connected to the pump suction port via a DN300 galvanized pipe containing a vacuum pressure gauge. On the discharge side after the pump check valve, there is a DN150 piping system, which contains a flexible bellows for connecting the floats, and an isolation butterfly valve, and then the two discharge ports merge into a common DN300 manifold. There is a DN300 check valve on the common manifold, and then DN300 ANSI #150 flanges connected to the water level at two elbows for connecting to HDPE pipes not provided on site. All flanges included in this pipeline comply with ANSI #150.
The pump includes an automatic vacuum filling system that allows the pump to fill and refill itself so that the pump can run when a small amount of liquid passes through. As part of the perfusion system, a check valve is pre-installed at the outlet of the pump so that air does not enter from the outlet side.
The pump includes an external sealed oil tank and pipes to provide lubrication and cooling to the outside so that the pump can run dry. The pontoons are equipped with lighting and lifebuoys required on site, as well as cable trays along the full length of the sidewalk to ensure the safety of on-site wiring. Customer feedback was that the team was impressed by the quality and craftsmanship of the pump system package and the ease of commissioning.
Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) now offers its self-priming (SP) coupled pump set, which uses a brand new, self-developed KBL manufacturing IE5 motor with super high efficiency.
The technology group Voith recently received a large order for the Ritom pumped storage power plant in Switzerland. The factory began operations as early as 1920 and will now be replaced by new facilities. Voith will be responsible for the design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning of the new high-performance generator set.
