If you can’t transfer it to the ground, then all the power in the world will be of no avail. Suzuki’s innovative electronic devices work transparently with the rider to achieve maximum acceleration in any type of dirt or track conditions. The 2018 RM-Z450 debuted the third-generation traction management system for the first time, with a significantly updated S-HAC (Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control) and a more powerful ECM (Engine Control Module). Starting in 2019, Suzuki’s RM-Z250 goes one step further, and the fourth-generation system has updated ECU software.
The S-HAC of the RM-Z250 can monitor the throttle position and gear to adjust the ignition timing to obtain the maximum acceleration during the three key stages of the off-road motorcycle start: accurate launch time, over the starting point, and then start straight. Three settings are available, A-mode for harder surfaces where idling of the wheels is essential, B-mode for normal dirt conditions with good traction, and an “off” setting.
The RM-Z250 is already known as one of the best turning off-road motorcycles, but we continue to work hard to improve it. The frame and the rocker arm, the aluminum frame beam becomes a hollow square section, the internal ribs are eliminated, the weight is reduced by 370 grams, and the torsional stiffness is increased by 10% to obtain better stability and collision absorption capacity. The aluminum rocker arm uses a hydroforming process to achieve a tapered cross-section without any welding, making the components equally strong, with thinner walls and a weight reduction of 80 grams.
To increase the flexibility of the RM-Z250, the engine position is pivoted upwards at the rear engine bracket by 8.5 mm (measured at the center of the crankshaft). The upper engine mounting bracket is now aluminum instead of steel. The RM-Z250 has four brackets on both sides of the engine instead of four brackets that hang the engine in one position. This not only reduces 90 grams, but also increases the overall stiffness.
The seat rails (now hexagonal in cross-section for easier access to the air filter) have been brought closer to obtain a narrower center, while also being raised to ensure sufficient air tank capacity. In order to take full advantage of the frame, the shape and foam density of the seat have been changed to make it easier to move, while reducing 274 grams. The pedals were moved forward by 3.3 mm and upward by 5.2 mm, while the Renthal Fatbar tapered aluminum handlebars were repositioned forward by 7.4 mm and downward by 3.8 mm. The overall curvature of the Renthal handlebars is also straighter than before, allowing the rider to move the weight forward more easily. And the previous aluminum fuel tank has been changed to a resin-based unit, saving another 312 grams.
Level 250 is about maintaining motivation. This requires handling any and all track obstacles as quickly and efficiently as possible, which means keeping the chassis stable and providing the rider with good track feel and feedback-without making him succumb. Whether itos jumping over a lot of howling noises, deflating on annoying ruts and potholes on straights, or landing from that big jump, Suzuki RM-Z250 can provide you with KYB coil spring forks and redesigns The rear shock absorber and connecting rod.
The KYB coil spring fork replaces the previous adjustment-intensive PSF2 air spring fork in last year’s model. It adopts a unique design and provides a progressive damping setting, providing excellent flexibility during small bumps, and at the same time, it is deeper and stable in the stroke to cope with more Large shocks, such as harsh shocks, jump landings. The upper and lower triple clamp design is optimized for rigidity, while cutting 60 grams. In the back, the rear suspension linkage ratio has been changed to enhance short-stroke movement, while optimizing longer suspension movements for better traction, and a weight reduction of 14.9 grams. The fully adjustable KYB shock absorber has a larger adjustment range, and the spring uses a thinner but stronger wire (feedback from MotoGP technology), which is 370 grams lighter than before. In addition, the chain guide is a design whose shape allows the chain to pass through it more evenly to improve durability, while also reducing 30 grams.
The lighter Dirtstar wheels reduce all important rotating masses by 40 grams at the front and 60 grams at the rear. Starting in 2019, the RM-Z250 is equipped with Dunlopos latest Geomax MX33 tires, which have received rave reviews. The adaptive design is suitable for soft tracks and can perform well on medium, sandy and muddy tracks. The front is 80/100-21 51M, and the back Dunlop 100/90-19 57M is 300 grams lighter.
Finally, if you cannot maintain the balance of the “stop” part of the performance triangle, all this increased speed potential will be of no avail, so we have strengthened the front brake of the RM-Z250. The diameter of the brake disc has been increased from 250 mm to 270 mm, and the material of the brake pad has been changed to obtain a more linear response characteristic when you brake.
Extracting the maximum performance from the RM-Z250′s power plant requires studying every detail. Including 30% larger air filter inlet and straighter throttle body outlet for more airflow; redesigned cylinder head intake and exhaust ports to improve combustion efficiency and increase fuel pressure , To enhance fuel/air atomization; direct throttle linkage to get a better feeling.
But our engineers did not stop there. From 2019, the fuel injection system of the RM-Z250 is equipped with two injectors. The main injector does not use a single injector that may affect the low-end fuel supply to provide sufficient fuel for high-end power, but provides precise low-speed fuel, while the higher-speed auxiliary injector provides the required Extra fuel. In addition, although the main injector is now injected at the throttle body butterfly valve for better atomization, the position of the auxiliary injector near the air filter allows more time to atomize and cool the incoming intake air. More motivation.
The exhaust pipe has been lengthened by 99mm, and the inner diameter is gradually tapered from 35mm of the cylinder head to
