Mountaintop, Pennsylvania-People who visit or live near the Ice Lake in Rice Township say they come here to enjoy the beauty.
Resident Kevin Rogan explained: “The ice lake has always been pristine, just a great environment for kayaking, canoeing, etc.” “But since we realized that the dam is leaking through a 13-inch pipe Since then, it has gone downhill in the past five years.”
Resident Nanci Romanyshyn added: “For us, we have a lot of things on the lake. Due to the leakage of the dam, we are now 100% in a dry state.”
But soon this will not be the case, as state representative Gerald Mullery announced that it will provide more than $500,000 in H2O grants to repair the dam.
This is an expensive project, partly because the endangered species Northern Northern Frog lives here, and cofferdams need to be built to maintain its habitat during the construction process.
State Representative Gerald Mullery (D) explained: “The crew will install a 24-inch hole at the bottom of the dam, insert a bushing, and install a gate valve. The existing drain will be repaired and the lake Will be refilled.” District 119.
