On Tuesday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced new measures to combat the Delta variant of COVID-19 among New Yorkers.
Speaking at the Jacobs University School of Medicine in Buffalo, the governor announced that she will be working with local, state health departments and the Public Health and Health Planning Committee in the coming days to implement mandatory weekly COVID-19 for the unvaccinated public. -19 Testing and charter school employees, and establishing vaccination requirements for all employees at state-regulated facilities and gathering places.
“Last year, every community across the state came together in a profound way to say, ‘We can do it,’” Hoher said.”This war is not over and the Delta variant is a serious threat, especially for those who are still unvaccinated. We all need to be vigilant to protect each other – that means coming in for shots and boosters, wearing masks indoors space and take the basic safety measures we are all familiar with now.”
The governor also announced that $65 million will be provided to local health departments across the state to support the rapid and reliable distribution of booster shots.
