These valves and fuse assemblies include manually operated ball valves or butterfly valves. In the event of a fire, the thermal fuse will automatically stop the flow of flammable liquids (in a normally open configuration)-or open the flow to release flame retardants or transfer flammable materials (in a normally closed configuration). This component is unique in the industry and requires little maintenance because its UL listed fuses are installed in a lever design-instead of withstanding 100% spring tension. With this design, the fuse of FM Fire-Safe can be used for many years, and unlike other thermal shut-offs on the market, it does not need to be replaced once a year.
FM Fire-Safe also provides an electric heating link (ETL) compatible with most smoke or gas detectors. The operating range of the electric thermal fuse is 6-30 VAC or 6-30 VAC, and requires less than 0.2 amps of power, 0.5 milliseconds at 24 volts. Electric heating options are used for fuel and combustion control applications, combustion protection, and electrical signal systems. These systems are heat activated, smoke or gas activated, flame energy activated, or activated by rising rate or maximum temperature.
The unique detachable handle allows the valve to be manually operated locally or remotely from a distance of more than 30 feet without affecting the fuse. The detachable handle can prevent injury or damage from the high-power quick-acting handle in the event of a fire.
