Relevant knowledge about ball valves

Ball valve products are evolved from the cock valve, the ball valve is a whole sphere as the valve opening and closing parts (spool), using the sphere around the axis of the valve stem rotation 90 degrees to achieve the purpose of opening and closing the valve. The ball valve is mainly used to cut off, distribute and change the direction of medium flow in the pipeline. The ball valve with V-shaped open spool also has good flow regulation function.

Ball valves are not only simple in structure and good in sealing performance, but also small in size, light in weight, less in raw material consumption, small in installation size, small in driving moment, simple in operation and easy to realize quick opening and closing. They are one of the fastest growing valve varieties in recent decades. The use of ball valves is very extensive. The variety and quantity of ball valves are still increasing. They are developing in the direction of high temperature, high pressure, large orifice, high sealability, long service life, excellent regulation performance and multi-function. Their reliability and other performance indexes have reached a high level, and have partially replaced the use of gate valves, globe valves and throttle valves. With the continuous development of ball valve technology, it will be widely used in the foreseeable short term, especially in oil and gas pipelines, oil refining cracking units and nuclear industry. In addition, in other industries of large and medium caliber, medium and low pressure fields, ball valves will also become one of the dominant valve types.


High processing accuracy, high cost, high temperature is not easy to use, such as impurities in the pipeline, easy to be plugged by impurities, leading to the valve can not open.

Ball valves are classified by function:

1. Bypass valves: ball valves are generally open in static water, so the Bypass valves should be installed first, i.e. both sides are filled with water.

2. Air valve: When filling water, the air is removed and the buoy closes the valve by itself; when draining water, the buoy drops by itself with supplementary air.

3. Pressure relief valve: when opening and closing the valve, discharge the pressure water between the valve and the sealing cover to avoid wearing the sealing cover.

4. Sewage discharge valve: discharging the sewage from the lower part of the spherical shell. The installation and maintenance of ball valves should pay attention to the following matters:

        ⑴Keep the rotating position of the valve handle.

        ⑵ Can not be used as a throttle.

        ⑶The ball valves of belt drive mechanism can be divided into:

                ①Pneumatic ball valves.

                ②Electric ball valve.

                ③Hydraulic ball valve.

                ④Pneumatic-hydraulic ball valve.

                ⑤Electro-hydraulic ball valve.

                ⑥Turbine Drive Ball Valve
