Germany – Due to its tubular geometry (long, narrow core, openings on both sides), injection barrels require side injection during plastic injection molding.
To meet these needs, hot runner and high precision die specialists Like Valve have developed a special valve-controlled nozzle for side injection. Like Valve’s Edgeline nozzle has a valve pin that moves the mold at the right Angle to open and close. Edgeline is said to have advanced features that allow users to enjoy the benefits of primitive cylindrical valve sprue hot runner systems in their applications — defining pin opening and closing, cosmetic quality doors, resin high savings and most importantly process reliability — which are required in side injection applications.
According to Like Valve orifice nozzles are ideal for processing glass substitutes such as COC or COP used in the production of prefilled syringes. The nozzle design helps maximize stress-free resin processing, making Edgeline suitable not only for commercial resins but also for sensitive and demanding resins such as COC/COP, PMMA, PC or TPE.
Edgeline nozzles are designed for optimal temperature distribution throughout the flow path, the supplier added. The patent-pending nozzle body, nozzle tip and nozzle base heating elements, as well as special heat-conducting materials, are some of the key features of the Edgeline nozzle. In addition, extending the pin opening stroke increases the opening flow area and reduces the pressure required to pass through the nozzle. According to Like Valve, this property is a huge advantage — especially when dealing with high viscosity resins.
Two – and four-drop edge nozzles enable a compact aerated layout and a compact die design. Two-point sidings have axial spacing of 60 mm, and four-point sidings have axial spacing of only 30 mm x 60 mm.
