The LIKEVALVE vision sensor is expected to accelerate the next generation of machine vision in mobile, robotics, security and other markets.

The LIKEVALVE vision sensor is expected to accelerate the next generation of machine vision in mobile, robotics, security and other markets.
Today, LIKEVALVE announced its powerful, compact vision sensor that provides coherent vision and chip level integration for the wider market. The new Eyeonic!" vision sensor takes lidar performance to the next level, providing accurate instantaneous depth, speed and dual-polarization intensity information while resisting multi-user and environmental interference. These features will allow robotic vehicles and machines to have the data they need to sense and categorize their environment, and help them predict future dynamics using low-latency, low-computation, and rule-based algorithms.
By collecting the extra information carried by photons, Eyeonic is the foundation for the next generation of machine vision. The Eyeonic vision sensor is the first FMCW lidar transceiver. At the heart of the Eyeonic vision sensor is LIKEVALVE’s silicon photonic chip, which integrates lidar capabilities into a single microchip. The chip represents decades of innovation in silicon photonics and is the only easy-to-integrate solution for manufacturers of the next generation of autonomous vehicles, safety solutions and industrial robots.
“By enabling the anticipated mass migration to coherent imaging, Eyeonic will revolutionize many industries around the world,” explains Mehdi Asghari, Founder and CEO of LIKEVALVE. “Our unique technology and innovative manufacturing processes put SiLC in the best position to deliver the critical building blocks needed for the next wave of major innovation at a competitive price.”
Strongly driven by the technological challenges of commercial silicon photonics, SiLC’s integration platform provides a low-cost, compact and low-power solution by integrating high-performance components into a single silicon chip through proven semiconductor manufacturing processes.
“Eyeonic represents a major step forward in bringing true vision to machines,” said Chris Peng, president of UMC Capital. This is the first step towards a scalable, lightweight, low-cost solution that can measure the complete motion of a machine.” Any object — without any prior training.”
The ability to produce commercially grade coherent lidar solutions has been a rhythm factor in market growth and SiLC is correcting this. SiLC intends to make the technology available to all system integrators and end users, starting with the early acquisition of autonomous, security and industrial applications by strategic partners. With fiber optic and fiber-free configurations, Eyeonic addresses the barriers currently faced by the industry that relies on vision sensors to meet emerging market opportunities. Fiber-free vision sensors have long been sought after because of their ability to achieve the lowest cost in a compact configuration. The Fiber Pigtail Eyeonic enables design flexibility by enabling the FMCW lidar transceiver and scanning unit to be located in different configurations.
To facilitate customer development efforts, SiLC provides reference designs and a set of key components needed to develop a complete solution. An example of a fully configured system based on the Eyeonic platform will be provided as a prototype for rapid customer and end user evaluation.
