A large water pipe break in the East Bay flooded the streets near the children’s center

A water pipe in the Alamo burst and continued to spray water for several hours, affecting 200 EBMUD customers. SkyFOX flew over the area on Friday morning
Alamo, California-A very large water pipe in the Alamo burst and flooded the streets near the kindergarten and elementary school.
The staff of the East Bay Municipal Public Utilities District worked hard on Hemme Avenue and Danville Boulevard in front of the Creative Learning Center and successfully stopped the water flow at around 10 am
EBMUD spokesperson Kathryn Horn said that staff were trying to close the gate valve most of the morning, which they believed would prevent water flow. But once it was closed before 9 o’clock in the morning, the water did not stop flowing into the street. The staff aimed at the second valve, enlarged their shut-off area, and temporarily shut off other customers’ water supply.
According to Horn, the broken pipe was an 8-inch long asbestos cement pipe installed in the 1950s.
This leaves parents Dan Lodder wondering what to do with his children. “We have to figure out how to deal with children today, we all work from home,” he said.
Mike Mascaro, who co-owns the Creative Learning Center kindergarten with his wife, said that debris and water are everywhere in the parking lot, but the kindergarten has not suffered any water damage.
He hopes that the kindergarten will reopen on Monday or in the middle of next week, depending on the time required for street clearing.
