Victaulic has developed a mechanical connection method for thin-walled stainless steel pipes that does not require professional welding skills. It is called StrengThin 100 and was developed in response to the growing trend in Europe to use thin-walled stainless steel pipes in applications such as chilled water, cooling, drinking water, and oil-free air systems.
The system is specially designed for Type 304/316 stainless steel, including joints, fittings and valves. It is said that this is the industry’s first slotted mechanical piping system designed to operate at up to 16 bar. The system has a groove profile to create a coupling joint while eliminating the risk of pipe flaring.
The system includes ready-to-install joints that can be wound around the pipe section to be connected without disassembling. There are also expansion joints, groove fittings and butterfly valves for two-way terminal services.
The problems involved in welding include making the pipe easy to overheat and requiring chemical treatment of the pipe to restore its corrosion resistance.
Since Monday, August 16, the government has removed the requirement to self-isolate for fully vaccinated adults or children under the age of 18 in England if the NHS informs of contact with a positive COVID-19 case. Although the government recommends that notified individuals receive free PCR testing, this change should greatly reduce the number of workers and others who self-isolate as a result of NHS testing and tracking “tests.”
Linnaeus warmly welcomes the government’s announcement of a national strategy to replace fossil fuels with hydrogen as the main energy source. By 2030, the British government hopes to produce 5GW of low-carbon hydrogen, which can power about 3 million households and provide fuel for industry and transportation.
