On Monday, Dutchess County Executive Mark Molinaro launched a new website.Molinaro made the announcement on social media, telling people to sign up and join his next chapter.
Last week, Molinaro filed documents with the Federal Election Commission as a candidate to represent New York’s 19th Congressional District.It is currently represented by Democrat Antonio Delgado.
He was joined by Dutchess County supporters, elected officials and community leaders at 4 p.m. Tuesday as he officially announced his candidacy for the House of Representatives.
New York’s 19th Congressional District covers much of the central Hudson Valley and the Catskills.It includes Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia, Delaware, Greene, Otsego, and Schoharie counties, as well as parts of Broome, Dutchess, Montgomery, and Rensselaer counties.
Afghan veteran Kyle Vandervoort recently unsuccessfully ran against Democratic Congressman Antonio Delgado to represent New York’s 19th District.
Vandervoort planned to play again but withdrew in late August.Tragically, the 41-year-old was found dead at the Poughkeepsie cemetery in early September.
In 2018, Molinaro lost his bid for governor of New York State.Andrew Cuomo led Molinaro by nearly 22 points.
In 1994, at age 18, Molinaro was first elected to public office serving on the Village of Tivoli Board of Trustees.
In November 2011, Molinaro became the seventh governor of Dutchess County.At 36, he became the youngest mayor in county history.He was re-elected for a third term in 2019.
