Since the first edition of this syllabus was published in 2009, and the second and third editions in 2014 and 2017, Illinois case law dealing with the protection of confidential and trade secret information has evolved, especially with the federal trade protection laws The emergence of the Secrecy Act 2016.The fourth edition contains updated case law references throughout the syllabus and adds new information, including recent cases regarding the application and interpretation of the Defend Trade Secrets Act, evolving jurisprudence, and information on restrictive employment relationships in Illinois The law of contracts, the intersection between claims for misappropriation of trade secrets and other common and statutory causes of action, and protection of social media content.
