Valheim has officially changed from “popular Steam curiosity” to “absolute monomer on the Valheim platform”. Calculated by the number of players, it is currently the third-ranked game on Steam with PUBG, and has been on the Steam bestseller list since its release. Now, the developer reveals that the game has sold 2 million copies in less than two weeks.
“In just 13 days, more than 2 million Vikings bought Valheim,” developer Iron Gate said in its announcement. “This weekend we reached a new peak concurrent player milestone of 360,000! Forget the long ship, we brag now It has the largest Viking population in human history, breaking the 700-year-old record. As a reference, the previous peak of the number of Vikings was set in 1300 AD, about 500,000.”
This is the first major release of Iron Gate, although the publisher Coffee Stain has definitely launched some popular games in the past, whether it’s internal games like Goat Simulator and Satisfactory, or external projects like Deep Rock Galactic.
However, Wallheim is in a rare field. Its concurrent player peak is the 11th largest in Steam history. If it weren’t for a few games that offer free promotions that happen to have issued trading cards that players can use Steam wallet cash to sell, then this would be the 8th largest. PUBG, CS:GO, Dota 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Terraria, Fallout 4, Among Us, and then Wallheim. What a huge list of games.
