Victaulic butterfly valve and check valve get DNV approval

Victaulic is the world’s leading manufacturer of mechanical pipe connection systems. Its Vic-300 MasterSeal™ butterfly valve-761 series and Vic-Check® check valve-716 and 716H series have been approved by DNV (Det Norske Veritas) Type certification.
The approval certificate is valid until June 2017 and covers Class III piping systems used for fresh water cooling, condensate return, non-essential systems, sanitary drainage pipes and non-essential service air.
Vic-300 MasterSeal butterfly valve has passed DNV type certification, size range is DN50 – 300 (2” – 12”), rated pressure is 21 bar (300 psi), temperature range is 0 – 121°C (32 – 250°) F) .
Vic-300 valve body and disc are made of ductile iron conforming to ASTM A-536, and the disc has an electroless nickel coating conforming to ASTM B-773. Can choose EPDM, nitrile rubber or fluorine rubber seat. Designed for grooved joints, they can also be used with Vic-Flange Adapter Type 741.
Compared with most traditional valves, these valves provide better flow and better sealing performance and a longer life expectancy. The unique design of the offset disc and two-piece stem can increase the flow rate and reduce the operating torque by up to 35%, and provide a 360-degree bubble seal. The pressure-enhanced rubber seat in the valve body seals evenly on both sides of the valve, minimizing long-term wear and maximizing service life.
In addition, MasterSeal valves are easier to install and maintain because they are lighter and their position in the pipeline network can be changed infinitely. Traditional flange-end valves are much heavier and can only index to the next available bolt hole position when aligning the lever or gear operator. These features make MasterSeal valves a clear and simple choice for ship owners, operators and their crew.
The DNV type approval for check valves covers the 716H series with a size range of DN50-DN80 (2”-3”), a rated pressure of 25 bar (365 psi) and a size range of DN100-DN 300 (4”) with the 716 series Product – 12”) The pressure rating is 21 bar (300 psi). The temperature range depends on the selected sealing material.
The check valve is made of ductile iron conforming to ASTM A-536 or ASTM A-395. EPDM, nitrile rubber or fluorine rubber seals can be selected to combine high pressure capability with low pressure drop performance. The grooved end design allows quick and easy connection using Victaulic fittings or Vic-Flange 741 style fittings.
The products and services described in this press release have not been approved by the maritime executive.
The global shipbuilding industry is benefiting from the strong rebound of shipbuilding orders in the shipping industry in 2021. According to six-month data from the market research company Clarkson Research Service, as of June, global orders were at a seven-year high on January 30, 2021. Both China and South Korea’s shipyards have reported strong growth in orders this year. In the first six months of this year, these two countries are still the largest shipbuilders, mainly acting in concert. During this period…
German terminal operator Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has launched a new concept of a container freight system based on Hyperloop. The new system was developed in cooperation with the start-up company Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HyperloopTT) and is designed to shuttle between seaports and inland destinations at the speed of airplanes, without the need for airports. According to HyperloopTT, the design can move 2,800 containers per day (1 million per year) on a single-line system. Its pod-shaped “HyperPort” capsules will be closed…
After multiple reports of long-term contract freight rates rising rapidly to record levels, there may be some signs of slowing growth-but there is no relief for the financially hit shipper community. Market intelligence platform Xeneta reported that its growth rate has slowed according to its long-term XSI public index. According to Xeneta’s data, by 2021, the average long-term contract ocean freight will rise by more than 37%, and…
Salvors has hoisted and dismantled the fifth part of the roll-on gold ray that was stranded in St. Simmons Bay, Georgia in September 2019. With the arrival of the 2021 hurricane season, there are two more cuts and three other parts that need to be carried out before the project is completed. This work is expected to take several months. During the hoisting operation, the tugboat used fire monitors to wash away the sediment in the sunken ship to reduce weight. this part…
