Chuncheon, chuncheon (Autumn, Autumn). 2017. South Korea. Directed by Jang Woo-jin. DCP. In Korean; English subtitles. 78 min. With a surprising structure that recalls the work of both Hong Sang-soo and Apichatpong Weerasethakul, this delicate sophomore feature by Jang Woo-jin is a tale of human connection and searching for one’s place in the world. It begins simply enough, with a young man sitting next to an older couple on a train from Seoul to the city of Chuncheon. From there, we follow the man as he copes with the anxiety of trying to find a job, and then the couple, who, as it turns out, don’t know each other as well as it seems. With funny and moving scenes that play out in understated yet bravura long takes, Autumn, Autumn is as attuned to the passage of time and fluctuations of light as it is to everyday human drama.

Lisanne Tremblay’s latest project "Ecdyses" explores the ongoing processes of self-transformation through a journey that travels organically from various world music inspirations to free collective improvisations. Her new ensemble pushes the boundaries of instrumental roles and navigates through a renewed sonic world of intricate textures to express shared human experiences such as vulnerability and strength. The New York- based violinist and composer has shared the stage with outstanding artists such as Greg Osby, Liberty Ellman, Stephan Crump, John Hébert, Gerald Cleaver, and E.J. Strickland, and her distinctive approach captured the attention of many through her debut album "Violinization," which was released in 2015 on Greg Osby’s "Inner Circle Music" label. "A gifted improviser with a highly unconventional yet utterly arresting melodic gift, Lisanne puts the full expressive powers of the violin on display and makes a compelling case for the instrument’s broader inclusion in modern jazz." Seton Hawkins, Hot House Jazz Magazine

You make a mockery of empiricism. Your knowledge of science and the scientific method is sub-miniscule. You are like an actor who has learned to recite from a script. You are a moral bankrupt degenerate who does not think well, sadly.

It has been some four days since I saw the revival of Mr. Lloyd Webber’s nigh-legendary musical "Cats," which opened on Sunday at the Neil Simon Theater. And it’s been four days of persistent earworms." One of Broadway’s previously longest running and most popular musicals makes a special return to New York at the Neil Simon Theatre. Ideal for the whole family, Cats is based on poet TS Eliot’s 1939 book for older children, Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats. With spectacular costumes, dazzling dance moves, and some of the most memorable show tunes in musical theatre (‘Memory’, ‘MaCavity’, ‘The Song of the Jellicles’, just to name a few!), Cats will leave you in awe. And possibly suspicious of any cats you may pass on the way home after… With direction from Trevor Nunn, choreography from Andy Blankenbuehler after Gillian Lynne and sets and costumes from the iconic John Napier, this Andrew Lloyd Webber-scored show won seven Tony Awards on its first 18-year outing on the Great White Way. Since it closed in 2000, audiences have been wishing for a revival, and now its finally here!

Obviously, in later years, Mr. Armstrong’s guilty conscience is causing him to utter words which make it very obvious that he is hiding something. Although not saying outright that he did not walk on the moon, (of course he wouldn’t), perhaps it is his way of making peace with himself, unburdening himself, so to speak, so that he can finally tell himself “Well, I did tell the public that we didn’t go – sort of.”
