CG Watch, a biannual newsletter, has named Singapore as the best market in Asia in terms of corporate governance standards this year. The country has scored 67 points, beating Hong Kong by two points. In the previous list of CG Watch, Singapore has only scored 64 points, placing behind Hong Kong.

Art historian Julia Bryan-Wilson will present an illustrated overview of her recent publication Fray: Art and Textile Politics (University of Chicago Press, 2017). Discussing the works on view in the War and Pieced exhibition, as well as modern counterparts, Julia will explore the relationship between textiles, gender, and war. A book signing will follow the discussion.Julia Bryan-Wilson is professor of modern and contemporary art at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research interests include theories of artistic labor, feminist and queer theory, performance, craft histories, photography, video, visual culture of the nuclear age, and collaborative practices. She is the author of Art Workers: Radical Practice in the Vietnam War Era (University of California Press, 2009), and editor of OCTOBER Files: Robert Morris (MIT Press, 2013). With Glenn Adamson, she co-wrote Art in the Making: Artists and Their Materials from the Studio to Crowdsourcing (Thames & Hudson, 2016). A scholar and a critic, Julia has written articles that have appeared in Art Bulletin, Art Journal, Artforum, Bookforum, Camera Obscura, differences, Frieze, Grey Room, October, Parkett, the Journal of Modern Craft, and Oxford Art Journal, and many other venues. Her article "Invisible Products" received the 2013 Art Journal Award from the College Art Association. Julia has held fellowships from the Clark Art Institute, the Henry Moore Institute, the Smithsonian Archives of American Art, the Terra Foundation, the Mellon, and the Getty Research Institute. She was a recipient of a Creative Capital/Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant, and has won several awards for her teaching. With Andrea Andersson, she curated the first major exhibition dedicated to the Chilean poet/artist Cecilia Vicuña.

With a surprising structure that recalls the work of both Hong Sang-soo and Apichatpong Weerasethakul, this delicate sophomore feature by Jang Woo-jin is a tale of human connection and searching for one’s place in the world. It begins simply enough, with a young man sitting next to an older couple on a train from Seoul to the city of Chuncheon. From there, we follow the man as he copes with the anxiety of trying to find a job, and then the couple, who, as it turns out, don’t know each other as well as it seems. With funny and moving scenes that play out in understated yet bravura long takes, Autumn, Autumn is as attuned to the passage of time and fluctuations of light as it is to everyday human drama.

Peace is not a political event; it is a personal choice to conquer fear. This show explores a young girl’s balancing act between her Middle Eastern heritage and her Jewish-American culture. Confronting her upbringing, she reveals a timely story of a family’s love, dysfunction and redemption set against the backdrop of Brooklyn in the 1920′s and Iraq and Israel in the 1940′s. Blanc et Noir: A Flavorful Evening of French Film, Wine, and Pizza – The City Reliquary Museum September 28, 2017 – Brooklyn

Elizabeth McGovern of Downton Abbey fame is set to lead the decades-long awaited revival of J.B Priestly’s time-travelling drama set during Britain’s interwar years. Last seen on Broadway in 1938, it is considered to be one of Priestly’s best plays, alongside his other works such as An Inspector Calls, I Have Been Here Before and Dangerous Corner. Following the turbulent changes faced a moneyed Yorkshire family, this new Roundabout Theatre production examines destiny, fortune and hope for the future.

The Theresa Academy of Performing Arts, a beautifully unique program for children and young adults with special needs, announces its fall lineup of after school programming. An array of subjects are being offered after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays, including art, music, drumming, yoga, and Zumba. Classes are small in size, and taught by passionate, talented, certified teachers. Each student receives individual attention and also has a one-on-one buddy. Breathtaking works of art by world-renowned artist Dale Chihuly will be on view at NYBG in his first major garden exhibition in more than ten years in New York. CHIHULY, presented by Bank of America, will showcase approximately 20 installations and include drawings and early works that reveal the evolution and development of Chihuly’s artistic process during his celebrated career. Among the singular sights, one of the new installations will draw inspiration from his storied 1975 Artpark installation. Set within NYBG’s landmark landscape and buildings, this groundbreaking exhibition will be a must-see throughout the changing seasons from spring through fall. Special weekend celebrations, films, poetry, and nature-inspired art programs for kids offer colorful and imaginative tributes to nature.
