Earlier on September 21, a city contractor broke a gate valve on a water pipe, and 30 inches of water poured through Beacon Hill in Boston, Massachusetts.
According to the Boston Sewer and Water Commission, the city’s contractor broke the valve on the water main at 12:30 am, the Boston Herald reported. The Boston Fire Department responded to Myrtle Street and Hancock Street, checking the safety of residents from house to house.
According to fire chief James Greene, there were no evacuated persons and no reports of casualties, but the city shut down the area’s water supply while repairing the main pipeline and assessing the damage.
According to the NBCBoston report, Green said: “They check each unit to ensure the safety of the occupants.” “Some of the units have some water-according to the amount of water flowing down the road, not as much as you think, but still enough to cause problem.”
Due to the power of water, it removed bricks from nearby sidewalks and poured muddy water into the basement. Some residents were out of power, and residents waited for city workers to dig street sidewalks.
According to the local Faucher family, they told the Boston Herald that D’Allessandro Corp., the contractor responsible for this work, would compensate them for their losses.
According to NBCBoston, the utility company Eversource and State Grid arrived at the scene at about 3:45 in the morning.
