Uh…I am not against the “dating” element in the game. I liked Azure Dreams very much at the time, but at least the game respects me enough to not call them waifus like some badges of honor.
@NEStalgia More dating simulation games need to draw inspiration from classic games like School Days, in which one of your abandoned lovers will murder you because of jealousy.

@nessisonett School Days is fun. On the one hand, it is almost fully animated, like Steins; Gate Elite, but released in 2005 (although the version most people see, including myself, is a remake of 2010). It also subverts and deconstructs various tropes commonly found in harem ergonomics games, which seems to touch the nerves of viewers who usually play these games. It is easy to read it as at least partly an irony of this type.
I don’t know what the modern consensus is. Most people who can play such games regard key VN as the height of romantic literature, so I don’t care much about their opinions, if I’m telling the truth.
